This talk explores the practical engineering challenges of developing hospitality, residential, mixed-use, and urban projects in Zanzibar, covering design coordination, infrastructure, coastal conditions, construction quality, material sourcing, logistics, and local execution. It also highlights the growing role of data, AI, and digital tools, and concludes with opportunities for stronger industry-academia collaboration through live projects and student engagement.
This symposium brings together researchers from theory, computation, and experiment to explore instabilities, pattern formation, and microstructure–flow interactions in complex fluids. It highlights applications across microfluidics, granular transport, soft matter, and sustainable energy. The event provides a platform for PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and young faculty to present their work, engage with experts, and build international collaborations. Hosted at IIT Madras Zanzibar, Tanzania, the symposium also aims to strengthen scientific engagement and expand the global reach of IUTAM activities in Africa and beyond.
